While some new electric choices in vehicles have been prompted by a need to lower carbon emissions, many vehicles on today's market are also a product of technological progress.
“Early adopters of PEVs [plug-in electric vehicles] worldwide tend to be tech-savvy and more affluent than the average vehicle purchaser - a combination that will help grow interest in the more advanced connected vehicle telematics packages,” senior analyst Dave Hurst said in a recent statement. “Additionally, many automobile manufacturers are recognizing that including connected vehicle telematics in the early years of PEV retailing helps consumers recognize the value of the vehicle.
The trend of technologically-advanced electric vehicles will only continue to grow. According to Pike Research, nearly 80 percent of electric vehicles scheduled to be produced by 2017 will be equipped with advanced telematics systems that provides the driver with information on nearby emergency services or charging locations as well as real-time vehicle diagnostics.
Fast car-charging stations - those that can fully charge a car in half an hour - are becoming more prevalent as well, giving individuals a better range to which they can expect their vehicle to travel.

Sunblock to keep the pain at bay

As many people know, the power of the sun is great for producing green energy, but can be harmful for human skin.  For sun worshippers who are hoping to hit the beach quite often this summer, the best thing they can do for their epidermis and the Earth is use eco-friendly sunblock.
A number of sunscreens have recently been reported to contain harmful chemicals. While many consumers use sunblock to prevent the risk of skin cancer, sunblocks that include vitamin A in their formulas may actually put an individual at a higher risk of developing skin tumors, the Environmental Working Group reported.
The EWG currently has a guide to safer sunscreens that consumers can find on the group's website, which beachgoers can use to find the most affordable and health-beneficial sunscreen. According to the source, most sunblocks marketed to babies and young children are the safest for adults, too.
According to Grist magazine, between 4,000 and 6,000 tons of sunscreen are going into the world's oceans annually, so choosing a healthy sunscreen can also assist the world's largest waterways in their health as well. Sunscreens with avobenzone provide some of the most mindful UVA protection, so consumers should keep their eye out for companies that use this, but not oxybenzone.

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Founder and CEO Michael Fallquist, along with SVPs Meredith Berkich and Cami Boehme, attended the Success University sponsored by Video Plus at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Dallas, TX. The executive trio watched presentations from industry experts like DSA President Joe Mariano and economic advisor Paul Zane Pilzer. Viridian’s own Michael Fallquist spoke to the crowd of more than 600 people about Viridian and our commitment to sustainability.

The key announcement of the evening was the list of the top global companies who certified the authenticity and accuracy of revenues exceeding $100,000. Viridian was announced as the #50 company, with revenue of $205 million in 2011, a 400%+ increase from our 2010 revenue. One of only three energy companies to make the Top 50 category, Viridian was clearly identified as one of the fastest growing companies in the industry, and received additional recognition during the daily program.
